Employees deserve a safe, worry-free workplace. There are many factors that can increase the risk of violence in the workplace, including working in isolated areas, working late at night or in places where alcohol is served.

By assessing risk in the workplace, employers can take action to reduce the likelihood of a violent situation.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recommends following safety guidelines such as instructing employees not to enter unsafe locations, establishing electronic keys to minimize non-employee access, installing surveillance cameras and providing safety training.

Workplace violence is a legitimate concern, and the best way to prepare any organization is to raise awareness with a dedicated training program.
